How To Silence Your Inner Critic Once And For All
We all have to face criticisms from other people at some time in our lives. It is just a matter of choice if we allow what they think and say to affect us. But the worst critic of all is the one that speaks to us from within. How we see ourselves and what we tell ourselves dictate how we run our lives. Criticizing yourself too much can kill your self esteem completely. You should learn to silence your inner critic to gain the confidence you need to succeed in life.
Here is how to silence your inner critic once and for all.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. That goes the same way with that inner bully that you need to deal with every day. When the voice that tells you that you can’t starts whispering in your ear, face the mirror and learn to fight back. Tell your insecure inner self to shut up and keep its negative thoughts to himself or herself.
Avoid The Negatives
The way you communicate with yourself and with others can eaither boost or silence your inner critic. Be careful with what you say. The advice “Think before you speak” comes in handy as you learn to avoid the negatives. Avoid saying the words no, can’t, never and don’t. There is always a way to rephrase your sentences to make them more positive. The more you learn to speak in a less negative manner, the kinder your inner voice will be to you as well.
Focus on Your Strengths
If you keep reminding yourself of your own weaknesses then that is all you will ever see. Start recognizing your strengths and the things that you really do well. Focus on your strengths and use them. Constantly being able to do good at things will boost your confidence and will also help your morale.
Work On Improving Yourself
Although it is best to focus on your strengths, you should also acknowledge your weaknesses. We all know that no one is perfect, right? But realizing your weak spots can help you determine what you should do to improve yourself. Never stop learning new things and work hard on trying to develop your skills, especially the ones you are the least good at.
If you know and truly believe that what you are doing is right then you can never go wrong. People will not always agree with you if you try to do the right thing, but you will always have that sense of pride and self respect doing what you know is the proper thing to do.
Fear Is The Enemy
Lastly, always remind yourself that fear is the enemy. Whatever you do, whichever way you choose to do things, there will always be that chance to either win or lose. People who are afraid to lose would rather not take the risk. But in the process, they never win either. If you really want to succeed, you have to choose not to be afraid and just take that leap of faith, no matter what your inner critic says.
